Since December 4, 2010, there has been a situational obligation to wear winter tires in Germany, which does not apply for a specific period of time, but depends on the weather conditions. In wintry road conditions, drivers must drive with tires that have an M+S label. Therefore, the rule of thumb applies: "Winter tires from October to Easter" - This means that the changeover season from summer to winter tires is open! But what actually happens to the old rubber slippers when we leave the tire dealer with our new tires? What does our trusted auto repair shop do with the old tires? What options are there for disposal or recycling of old tires? In Germany alone, an average of 700.000 tons of old tires accumulate every year.
