AZuRThe Innovation Forum for Used Tyre Recycling is a broad-based network with a wide variety of companies, all of which have a connection to the topic of tyres. They all come together in AZuR across associations and industries to drive forward the common goals and future recycling paths with commitment. AZuR stands for Alliance Future Tyres.
The initiative NEW LIFE is supported by companies and associations whose declared aim is to use recycled material from ELT (end-of-life tyres) as a sustainable raw material for high-quality products with a long service life. With NEW LIFE, we want to promote sustainable products and sensitise people to conscious and resource-conserving consumption.
The ZARE initiative is an association of 12 certified used tyre disposal companies organised in the German Tyre Retail and Vulcanisation Trade Association (BRV). It has set itself the task of increasing awareness of professional tyre recycling in Germany. Under the motto "Together for a clean environment", ZARE wants to make drivers aware of the need to dispose of their used tyres correctly. Further information is available here or in our Film.
Used tyres and rubber waste should be used as valuable resources. We are actively involved in the trade association and support lobbying at both national and European level with the aim of recycling 100% of used tyres as sensibly and sustainably as possible.
We rely on the sun! Our Wendlingen building is equipped with a photovoltaic system with 96 modules. Light energy is converted into electrical energy over an area of around 1,000 square metres. This saves fossil fuels and reduces CO² emissions. We are also contributing to the energy transition and the promotion of renewable energies.
Instead of "disposable" batteries, we use rechargeable batteries and thus not only save money, but also protect the environment. Batteries have to be disposed of as hazardous waste. By using rechargeable batteries, we save on this disposal, significantly reduce hazardous waste and save raw materials that would otherwise be lost. By using rechargeable batteries, we avoid new purchases and save energy, as the production of batteries consumes 40 to 500 times more energy than they provide during later use.
We carry out order processing paperlessly and are therefore on the way to becoming a paper-minimised office. By reducing the number of printouts, we save paper and protect the environment. Despite all the digitalisation, we still have to print things out. We consistently print these on both sides. This means we utilise the paper to the full, even if it is printed. This saves natural resources! It goes without saying that we consistently use recycled paper.
Numerous trade fairs are held in Germany every year. We also like to take the opportunity to be there for our business partners and customers. We have always favoured an environmentally friendly, recyclable exhibition stand in order to use as few resources as possible. Disposable exhibition walls and floors that are thrown away after a single use are not our thing. Our exhibition stand is a container that has been with us at a number of trade fairs over the years. The floor is covered with reusable artificial turf. We consistently invest in resource-saving solutions!
In Germany alone, the annual volume of used tyres amounts to over 584,000 tonnes. Used tyres that are incinerated pollute the atmosphere with smoke gases and chemicals. Used tyre fires are very difficult to extinguish - which is why professional and responsible storage of used tyres in compliance with regulations is absolutely essential. KURZ Karkassenhandel's storage areas are all completely enclosed. Proper processing and disposal is ecologically necessary and contributes to the preservation of our environment.
This is why we are working intensively and sustainably to ensure that more and more tyres are granulated and prepared for reprocessing. We are also open to new recycling processes. We support companies conducting research in this field with our knowledge and expertise, such as in the Rubberised asphalt" project.
Rubber as a recyclable material is used for a wide variety of products. Rubber mats, tyres, children's play equipment, seals, vehicle construction and many more. Wherever rubber is processed, rubber waste is also produced. We dispose of all types of industrial rubber waste competently and professionally.
The office buildings and halls in Wendlingen and Landau are illuminated with LED lamps. These have a lower energy consumption than conventional light bulbs and generate much more brightness. LED lamps also have a longer service life.
We consistently favour sustainable options in the procurement of our materials. For example, we use reusable glass bottles instead of plastic bottles and also pay attention to ecologically sound products when procuring other items.
Every used tyre we dispose of is documented in writing. This carefully kept "company diary" can thus prove the quantity and whereabouts of the used tyres at any time.
Our air conditioning systems ensure a good working environment for our employees. However, it is particularly important to us that they work as energy-efficiently as possible and we therefore ensure that the systems are used sensibly and maintained regularly.
