Scrap tyre theft, what can you do?

In any case, report it to the police. Word will get around and ensure that your company is no longer the focus of thieves. Unfortunately, some thieves are completely unaware of the wrongdoing because they believe that they are actually doing the company a favour.

Is that true? No! Because you - the tradespeople - are obliged to dispose of waste properly and will receive a certificate of disposal from your certified waste tyre recycler. Because waste can also be valuable and useful! Used tyres not only provide valuable energy; they also save coal and oil in incineration plants with complex filter systems or serve as a valuable material for a new tyre life and, through recycling, become a secondary raw material that is very welcome in construction or in the rubber industry. An undamaged commercial vehicle carcass can be retreaded up to three times and given a "second life". There are also many other measures that can be taken to extend the product life cycle of used tyres. The ultimate goal is to avoid waste and save resources.

Important!  Traders are fully recoverable. If your stolen but not reported used tyres are found in the countryside, you will be held responsible. By tolerating theft, tradespeople are in constant danger of being held responsible for illegal waste disposal. We therefore recommend that you report any theft to the police!

Take precautions and be proactive!

The first tip from many a suffering customer and also from us is: rigorously deny unauthorised visitors access to the company premises. Post signs in the entrance area so that they are clearly visible. If there are repeat offences, inform the police!

If possible, secure your premises with a fence and a gate to provide comprehensive protection. Video surveillance and adequate lighting in the dark should be standard.
