The RECYCLING talk regularly brings together experts from various fields and talks to them and other interested parties about topics that affect the industry. At the RECYCLING talk on 30 November, there was an intensive discussion about how the collection of used tyres can be improved and which technological solutions exist for effective recycling. The discussion was moderated by Michael Brunn, editor-in-chief of the Recycling Magazineand Christina Guth, coordinator of the AZuR networkGünther Ihle, Managing Director of RIGDON GmbH and Hanna Schöberl, Managing Director of KURZ Karkassenhandel GmbH, together with other interested parties, discussed the future of used tyre recycling - an important topic for a sustainable world!
With over 3.4 million tonnes of used tyres a year in the EU - around 600,000 tonnes of which are in Germany - there is an urgent challenge. To date, only around 30 per cent of these used tyres are recycled using certified disposal methods. However, a significant proportion is (co-)incinerated or exported outside the EU.
