Tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are now standard, with most vehicles today equipped with direct-measuring systems. These systems have a sensor on each wheel, usually located inside the tyre on the inner side of the rim. These sensors contain small batteries.
IMPORTANTThe batteries in the TPMS sensors must not Simply drop off the tyre with us! They are covered by the Battery Act and must be disposed of via authorised collection points, Recycling centres or Specialised recycling companies disposed of professionally.
Why is this so important? Improperly disposed of lithium batteries pose a significant fire and environmental risk. The danger of short circuits, potential explosions, and leaking hazardous substances – all of this can arise from incorrect disposal.
Furthermore, tyre pressure monitoring system sensors are considered WEEE and must be collected separately so that contained raw materials can be recycled and legal regulations can be complied with.
Also: Please only hand in the tyre to us – without the TPMS and without the battery.
