73 % of drivers attach importance to the environmentally friendly disposal of used tyres
Landau, 07.12.2016 Around 60 million used tyres have to be disposed of every year in Germany alone. This is an immense challenge that requires a great sense of responsibility on the part of end users, dealers and disposal companies. Unfortunately, we keep reading about the illegal disposal of used tyres. Not everyone seems to realise the damage they are causing. However, the results of a survey are reassuring.
The survey was commissioned by the ZARE (Certified Waste Tyre Disposers) initiative from the puls market research institute. Around 1,500 private individuals between the ages of 18 and 69 who are responsible for the maintenance of their car were asked online to answer the question of whether it is important to them how environmentally friendly their used tyres are disposed of. As many as 73 % of respondents answered this question in the affirmative, 24 % were undecided and only 3 % stated that they "didn't care" about the fate of their used tyres. Surprisingly, older people in particular demonstrate greater environmental awareness: Among the over-50s, only 18 % ticked the "undecided" box, whereas more than a third of the under-30s, namely 34 %, chose this answer option, even though this age group will have to bear the consequences for far longer. Indifference and disinterest, on the other hand, are common to all age groups: the proportion of those who are not interested in environmentally friendly disposal remains constant at 3 %.
Kurz Karkassenhandel, itself a partner of the ZARE initiative and a committed advocate of clean used tyre disposal, welcomes the positive figures. Kurz ensures the professional and sustainable processing of discarded tyres at its disposal facility. It was only this year that the fine grinding plant for peeling snakes, the only one of its kind in Europe, was put into operation on the company premises in Landau, which processes around two tonnes of feed material into rubber powder every day when fully operational. The material is used in road construction, among other things. If you care about our environment and want to ensure that used tyres are recycled and do not end up in a forest, Kurz is the right address for you.
