KURZ Karkassenhandel - Tyres unsorted

Not all used rubber is the same

We take a close look when it comes to finding the most sustainable form of recycling. From a second use as a used tyre or as a retreadable carcass to residue-free recycling. In doing so, we fulfil the 100% guidelines of the Circular Economy Act.

From collection to the final end product, the Used tyres or the used rubber is our responsibility. In our in-house Shredder system we shred the used tyres or used rubber products into palm-sized pieces that can be sent for state-of-the-art processing. The metal residues are removed from the palm-sized pieces of used rubber granulate, so that the end result is a pure Rubber powder remains.

Depending on Requirement can help the Rubber granules other substances such as colour pigments or stabilisers can be added so that a wide variety of products can be manufactured from them. The granulate is primarily used Used in the construction of sports stadiums, road construction and vehicle door seals.

Urban mining - the advantages of recycling used tyres in Germany

The transport of tyres causes CO2, so it makes sense to recycle the secondary raw material where it is produced. "Urban mining" describes the situation where secondary raw materials are available in large quantities in populated areas and can be "mined" or utilised.

We recycle the tyres we collect regionally. This means that the majority of tyres are recycled in Germany and only a small proportion in other European Union countries.
We refuse to recycle our tyres in other (OECD) countries for ecological reasons - for the sake of our environment and our future.

Possible applications

In the Road construction becomes Rubber powder is used to produce particularly durable and high-quality asphalt. The rubber powder used ensures a soft, non-slip surface and reduces noise.

In the thermal utilisation used rubber reduces the energy consumption of fossil raw materials and thus conserves resources.

In addition, many products made from elastomers can also be produced from rubber powder from used tyres. It depends on the requirements in each individual case.
